TEDx Lab - Spring 2015
On March 21st, UF-BMES participated in the widely popular event, TEDx Lab! We were able to demonstrate the lung simulator as well as the SpikerBox (which presented how action potentials worked using a cockroach's leg). Many participants also had fun with the popular MindFlex game as they faced each other. It was a very successful event, and the audience that attended UF-BMES's booths was enormous throughout the day!

Chiles Elementary Outreach Event
On February 19th (starting at 5:45 pm), BMES presented at Chiles Elementary School to spread the love of science! BMES showed a science experiment using cockroaches to demonstrate how action potentials work through stimulating a cockroach's leg. We also included MindFlex which is a device that allows you to control a ball with your mind! (Well, not that exaggerated, but with your neural signals such as alpha waves.) It was a great success as many children participated as well as UF professors who went with their children!

Do's and Don'ts of BME
The Do's and Don'ts was an event held last semester (Fall 2014) to help undergraduate students with the BME admission progress. All Freshman and Sophomores who were applying to Biomedical Engineering program were the main audience of this event. Professors involved in the decision making also attended to give their talk on what the students needed to do to make a successful application. The career of BME and benefits of BME degree were also discussed, and of course, there was lots of fancy food! The last part of the event discussed the BME graduate program application.

On October 14th, BMES hosted a crafts special where BMES members and friends were able to make free buttons (paid by UF-BMES) at the Arts and Crafts studio located in the basement of the Reitz Union. The buttons were self-designed so that anything could have been written on them! (That's why you had to be creative to have fun at this event.) ;)
